7) contd
    Glue on:

  • middle shelf
  • top shelf so it is flush with top edge of back

  • and sides

    8) Seal bookcase. I gave mine two coats of clear gloss varnish. After this it was very sturdy.

BOOKS

1) Save the books printie to your hard drive and then print out at 100% scaling on to Matt Photo Paper 100gsm or something similar. It's dimensions are 108.627mm x 66.633 mm OR 4.277" x 2.623".
Note: these book covers are not my graphics, I just shrunk them. They are for personal use only.

2) Cut out the all the book covers. I used a combination of steel ruler, craft knife and small scissors for this task.

3) You could glue the book covers around wood or cardboard. But I used white fun foam. Cut off a 3/16" wide strip and then slice this in half (very, very carefully so you don't cut yourself) to get the required thickness.

 4) For each book cover score along each side of the spine. Fold along score lines. Glue book cover around the fun foam. Cut book off strip.

5) Repeat step 4 for all book covers. Sounds tedious but after awhile I quite enjoyed making quarterscale books.
